THE STORY

In the early 1970s the Kent’s bought their home for $40,000 in one of the most desirable areas in Vancouver.

THE SETTING

Today that home has risen in value to $4 million.
And because the new NDP government has introduced a new tax on all homes valued at more than $3 million the Kent’s face an additional tax of $2,000 a year – a sum they say cannot afford.

WHAT IT MEANS

But the Kent’s have options on how to pay the new tax but it is something they don’t want to do.
And the new tax could pose problems for people who bought houses last year.
