A modern day hero saves a life:
0ften in life good things happen to good people.
And this took a mere 40 seconds.
But those 40 seconds showed a young man risking his own life to save that of another.
And this young man in Paris scaled the facade of building to save a young boy – dangling from a fifth-floor balcony.
The man – Mamoudou Gassama aka Spiderman – became an instant hero.
22-year-old Gassama climbed up four floors of the apartment building to rescue a four-year old boy, all to the cheers from onlookers.
And Gassama himself has an interesting story.
He arrived in France last year, taking the long and dangerous journey to Europe via a boat over the Mediterranean to Italy from his native Mali.
And France was grateful. French President Emmanuel Macron invited Gassama to the Élysée Palace and did two things – offered him French citizenship and a fireman’s job.
Here is how the rescue happened.
Gassama said he was walking in the area when he saw a crowd gathered in front of the building.
He heard people shouting and honking their horns and noticed they were all looking at a 4-year-old boy who was dangling from a fifth-floor balcony.
He told Macron: “I just didn’t have time to think, I ran across the road to go and save him. I didn’t think about it, I climbed up and God helped me.”
Modern day hero saves a life: he said that when he reached the apartment, he became scared and started shaking.
Macron asked Gassama how the child was when he was rescued. He replied: “He was crying because he was hurt.”
