The Kiki challenge has people dancing all over the world.
Finally a good feel news story.
It started in July.
An Instagram comedian and social media influencer Shiggy issued a call to his followers for the Kiki challenge.
He asked them to dance exuberantly to the lyrics of a song by the rapper Drake.
The song is called In My Feelings.
And it is addressed to a woman called Kiki – Kiki, do you love me? Are you riding? Say you’ll never ever leave from beside me, ’cause I want you and I need you and I’m down for you always.
And people all over the world took Shiggy up on the challenge.
They offered their own version of the jig and sometimes even did dangerous stunts to the music.
One Iowa teenager was critically injured after jumping out of a slow moving car.
But two farmers in India really took the challenge to heart.
Sriram Srikanth, 27, Anil Geela, 24, and , Phili Tirupati, 28 , have lived most of their lives in the village of Lambadipally in the southern Indian state of Telangana.
Feelings was the first English song Geela ever heard.
And he instantly fell in love with it.
So when the three of them heard the Kiki lyrics together they decided to for it.
There was no choreography.
“We decided to do the moves that came naturally to us,” says Srikanth.
It took 45 minutes to shoot the 39-second video for Instagram.
And the rest is history.
They never dreamt that their dancing would earn them global fame.
They posted their video on August 1 on Instagram and YouTube.
Their YouTube channel has 492,000 subscribers and the video has had more than three million views in a mere four days.
And all because they danced with oxen in the mud.
Who would have thought that’s all it would take.
