ONTARIO FACES A NEW TRUMP-LIKE GOVERNMENT

THE STORY

Ontario will go to the polls on June 7.
And all the indications are that the Liberals under Premier Kathleen Wynne could well be tossed out
The biggest contender to replace her – Doug Ford, the Conservative leader.

THE SETTING

Ford is the brother of the late Rob Ford, the former disgraced Toronto mayor who was embroiled in personal and political scandals.
Doug espouses many of the same beliefs that U.S. President Donald Trump does.
There is a fear that if he were elected Ontario would become a northern version of Trumpland.
And all political parties – the NDP, Liberals and Progressive Conservatives are each making promises galore to the electorate.

WHAT IT MEANS

If an election were held today Ford would lead Wynne by a country mile.
